Research Chemist - Acrylic Emulsions - Carlsbad, CA

Description
Support applications research and development for architectural markets by translating market needs into product concepts and developing the concepts into commercial products through polymer synthesis and characterization, acrylic emulsions, and acrylic latex formulation and coatings.

Key Roles:

*** Lead multidisciplinary new product development project teams to translate knowledge of polymer materials and functional additives to new application development and new market space identification.

*** Identify needs and opportunities through discussion with customers, sales, and marketing personnel and translate those needs into innovative product solutions.

*** Serve as a technical expert for acrylic monomers, polymers, emulsions, and applications to architectural paint.

*** Identify and implement experimental methods to quantify targeted customer-relevant application performance attributes, including analytical techniques such as rheology, thermal analysis, and various chromatography and spectroscopies.

*** Create model formulations to highlight performance of raw materials in a market-relevant manner for targeted applications.
