Set up and operate x-ray machines to produce radiographs for evaluation of castings within customer and company specifications.

*** Determine priority of radiographs to be taken, including daily film requests for darkroom based on production schedules.

*** Visually inspects castings for dirt, penetrant, etc.

*** Check routing or requests to determine x-ray needs on parts; determine setup requirements, including x-ray techniques, part positions, and film requirements.

*** Set up castings on tables in x-ray machines including fixturing, placement of film cassettes, and placement of nameplate identification and penetrameters on film; set exposures.

*** Operate x-ray machine control panels and equipment to take multiple views of castings, adjusting radiographic variables such as tube height, voltage and exposure times within customer specifications.

*** Check radiographs for clarity, coverage, density, and sensitivity; reshoot when needed.

*** Develop setup requirements for new techniques by completing setup photos and documenting explicit, clear instructions.

*** Identify densities, voltages, and other parameters for inclusion in instructions.

*** Troubleshoot and simplify problem areas in inspection instructions to streamline operations.

*** Train and assist radiographers with setup and operational techniques.
