Seeking individual with a degree in Physics, Material Science, Optics, Optical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree with experience leading design and evaluation of optical thin film coatings and hands-on abilities with vacuum deposition chamber operation.

Team's Activities:

*** Develop, document, and test multilayer stack designs and processes for thin film optical filters in long wave infrared (LWIR) applications.

*** Rework processes or coating designs based on analysis of data gathered during first-run tests.

*** Identify appropriate metrics to monitor chambers or coating process, gather and evaluate data using SPC, fine tune control limits, and make recommendations for improvement to maximize yield.

*** Utilize thin film modeling software such as Essential Macleod, Optilayer, TFCalc, or Filmstar.

Qualifications:

*** Degree in scientific discipline such as Optics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, etc.

*** Experience writing and implementing DOE to evaluate the design for manufacturability potential for optical filters.

*** Experience designing optical filters and coating processes.

*** Experience evaluating the process characteristics of the specific chamber of choice, identifying specific adjustments and upgrades for the chamber to be able to replicate the multilayer thin film model.
