Global Trade Compliance Attorney - Edison, NJ

Description
Advise clients on compliance to import, export, and free trade laws and regulations, including assisting development of strategy, policies, and procedures as part of a North East USA Multi-Office Regional Law Firm.

*** Assist with client international trade compliance activities including documentation preparation and review, valuation decisions, tariff classifications, dual use determinations, country of origin determinations, free trade agreement evaluations, post-entry amendments, and audits.

*** Identify and communicate known or potential non-compliance events or activities to clients, including preparation of fact-finding summary of events.

*** Advise on client interactions with third parties which impact compliance to international trade laws, including freight forwarders, brokers, logistics providers, and US or foreign government agencies such as Customs, Dept. of Commerce, and Dept. of State.

*** Assist clients in managing supplier selection, evaluation, procedures, and relationship as it relates to international trade compliance.

*** Provide legal guidance for clients regarding U.S. import Customs & Border Protection Regulatory Compliance and Export Regulatory compliance under Export Administration and other applicable government agencies.

*** Support internal client and government led audits, queries, submissions, disclosures, and reports and advise on corrective action plan as appropriate.

*** Operate in a legal capacity for clients including Power of Attorney (specific to trade related matters) and Empowered Official (when designated).

*** Stay abreast of new, amended, or proposed foreign countries Customs import and export Regulatory Compliance requirements to determine impact to clients.
