Environmental Claims Examiner

Location: Akron, OH (Remote Work Option Available)
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Claims Examiner to manage complex environmental claims from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with toxic torts, asbestos claims, pollution liability, and health hazard claims. This role involves determining coverage, managing litigation, and writing Reservation of Rights letters. You will also negotiate cost-sharing and carrier participation agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Handle environmental claims related to toxic torts, asbestos, pollution, and health hazards.
• Manage the entire claims lifecycle, from initial claim review through settlement or litigation.
• Analyze and determine coverage for complex environmental claims.
• Draft and issue Reservation of Rights letters and manage the associated legal documentation.
• Negotiate cost-sharing and carrier participation agreements.
• Collaborate with legal, claims, and underwriting teams to develop claims strategies.
• Maintain thorough records and documentation of claims and negotiations.
Requirements:
• Proven experience as an Insurance Claims Examiner, Claims Adjuster, Claims Analyst, or similar role, with a focus on environmental claims.
• Strong knowledge of toxic tort, asbestos, pollution, and health hazard claims management.
• Experience with litigation management and writing Reservation of Rights letters.
• Ability to negotiate and draft cost-sharing and carrier participation agreements.
• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
