Composites Engineer - Turbine Blades - Orange City, IA

Description
Seeking individual with strong background in wind turbine blade manufacture and knowledge of composite materials used to ensure the blade has: high strength, high stiffness, high fatigue resistance, and low weight.

Shall:

*** Develop approaches and define material selection to resolve highly complex manufacturing issues, or potential issues through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.

*** Utilize CAD modeling and drafting software to establish composite part design and perform simulations to ensure the designs are feasible and technically acceptable.

*** Brainstorm design concepts and aid in solving technical challenges for process design and materials selection related to large wind turbine blades.

Requirements:

*** Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline.

*** Knowledge of common composite materials including carbon fiber, S-glass, basalt fibers, layered epoxy composites, or thermoset and thermoplastic polymers.

*** 3+ years in a manufacturing environment with experience developing and applying composite manufacturing processes including hand layup, compression molding, vacuum bagging, curing, machining, testing and inspecting.
