*** Screen and hire staff in conjunction with HR department.

*** Establish and communicate clear performance objectives, evaluate work product and progress toward objectives, complete file quality reviews, and write performance evaluations to determine performance-based salaries.

*** Track, approve, and arrange coverage for vacation and time off requests.

*** Plan and evaluate strategies, gather and analyze data, prepare reports, and identify and implement department goals.

*** Manage a team of claim handlers to ensure results produced meet team, department, corporate, state, and regulatory standards and goals.

*** Direct, control, and review work quality and quantity to ensure claims team effectively handles workloads.

*** Track progress on large loss claims and guide claims handlers on large loss review process including reviewing large loss forms and attending large loss reviews.

*** Advise on tasks related to claims management and monitor performance.

*** Serve as a resource to staff regarding claims system and for making proper claims decisions.

*** Provide regular feedback to management on results.

*** Manage complex claims or claims involving coverage concerns.
