Bioinformatics Statistician - New Product Development - Berkeley, CA

Description
Growing biotechnology company seeks experience developing genomic analysis algorithms and bioinformatics tools to lead new diagnostic product development leveraging next generation sequencing platforms and analyze large RNA & DNA data sets.

Qualifications:

*** Must be able to analyze and apply data from sequencers such as Roche 454, Illumina Genome Analyzer system, Ion Personal Genome Machine (PGM), PacBio Sequel system, or similar.

*** Experience designing, evaluating, revising, and implementing computational techniques to analyze NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) data and identify nucleotide variants.

*** Experience using the Sequence Alignment-Map format to store, sort, merge, and index large nucleotide sequences.

*** Ability to use the Burrows-Wheeler Aligner (BWA) package or similar software to map low-divergent sequences against large reference genomes.

*** Previous experience developing analysis tools for high-throughput DNA sequencers using the GATK (Genome Analysis Tool Kit).

*** Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar.
