Battery Engineer - Flint, MI

Description
Design and develop electrode materials, advanced lithium ion batteries, and battery systems for the transportation, electric grid services, and consumer markets.

*** Lead cell design, development, analysis, and launch of cell products along with Advanced Product Quality Planning process.

*** Design experiments to test new materials, oversee cell builds, evaluate results, and make recommendations for next steps of development.

*** Validate and analyze lithium ion cell components, assemblies, specifications, and full suite of Phase Gate Processes.

*** Assist with engineering level test builds at manufacturing facilities.

*** Analyze and evaluate cell data to determine direct interaction effects of materials under evaluation.

*** Identify short and long-term roadmap to achieve high performance and cost reduction goals for Li-Ion battery separators.

*** Create plan and execute safety mechanism for cells using oxide chemistry.

*** Produce comprehensive technical specifications, Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, and similar reports.

*** Provide engineering support to resolve manufacturing process issues. Plan and execute root-cause analysis of failures and appropriate action.

*** Interface with Research & Development scientists to understand lithium-ion cell failure modes, performance and life expectancy, and similar.

*** Collaborate with material suppliers to develop and validate material specifications for new materials, and resolve quality issues.

*** Serve as subject matter expert for queries related to electrochemical characterization (ac impedance, State Of Health analysis, charge acceptance, cycle life, and similar), formation mechanism, failure mechanism in abuse testing for lithium ion battery, and similar.
