Associate Director Child Policy and Advocacy - Child Welfare - Washington, DC

Director of Policy & Advocacy Manager Vice President Unit Supervisor Child Advocacy Child Welfare Abuse & Neglect _ .

Lead the development and implementation of nonprofit's Child Welfare, Abuse & Neglect state advocacy strategy.

*** Proactively manage targeted advocacy campaigns aligned with organization's priorities relating to Child Welfare, Abuse & Neglect issues and related initiatives.

*** Collaborate with the advocacy team to create and implement coordinated advocacy strategies that will advance the advocacy priorities of the organization.

*** Partner with the Grassroots Manager to train and activate the organization's volunteer advocates in state advocacy, as well as work to engage volunteers in the target communities.

*** Develop and oversee the delivery of metrics identified by the strategic plan.

*** Implement multiple state-based advocacy campaigns.

*** Lobby state legislature and government.

*** Monitor state legislation, regulations and performance.

*** Train staff and volunteers on Child Welfare, Abuse & Neglect priorities and how to be an advocate.

*** Create multi-channel education and communication tools to support state advocacy initiatives.

*** Place local media stories and op-eds to support state campaigns in collaboration with Communications Department.

*** Assess and report on the impact of successful policy change.

*** Submit grants to ensure financial support for advocacy efforts.

*** Maintain organization's leadership and participation in relevant coalitions.

Qualifiers:

*** Graduate Degree & prior experience in state-based advocacy including interfacing with state agencies and legislators.

*** Leadership experience.

*** Public policy experience including policy statement development, research, and communications.

*** Grant writing experience.

*** Hands-on computer literacy with MS Windows Workstations and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).

*** Must be able to drive and travel.
